The AI receptionist that
never lets the phone ring out.
While you are with a customer, on site, or closed for the day, fonea picks up in seconds: it answers common questions, books appointments into your calendar, and transfers urgent calls to you. In Spanish, English, and three more languages — built for businesses with international customers.
What is an AI receptionist?
An AI receptionist is software that answers your business phone with a natural voice: it greets callers with your business name, answers frequent questions, books appointments in your calendar, and transfers urgent calls to a human — 24 hours a day.
Every business with a phone has this problem
Every unanswered call is a customer calling someone else
Callers who reach nobody don’t try again
A new customer who hits voicemail hangs up and dials the next Google result. The enquiry you never hear about is the most expensive one — it shows up on no missed-call list.
A missed first call rarely comes back
You can’t answer the phone and work at the same time
In a clinic, an agency, a workshop, or a salon, the busiest call hours are the busiest work hours. Hiring someone just for the phone easily costs €1,000 a month or more — and still leaves evenings and weekends uncovered.
Peak work = peak missed calls
International callers hang up when they aren’t understood
Tourism, expats, foreign buyers: in many parts of Spain a meaningful share of calls arrives in English, German, or French. A Spanish-only phone silently filters those customers out.
Language decides the call in seconds
What changes
What fonea does for your business
100% of calls answered
No busy tone, no voicemail, no queue. Every call answered in seconds with your business name — at lunch, at night, on holidays.
Serves callers in several languages
fonea detects the caller’s language and replies naturally in Spanish, English, French, German, or Italian — a built-in advantage for coastal clinics, estate agencies, hotels, and advisory firms with international clients.
Books appointments in your calendar
Connected to Google Calendar or Microsoft 365, fonea sees free slots in real time and closes the booking during the call — confirmation by text or email included.
Urgent calls straight to your mobile
You define what counts as urgent. Those calls are transferred instantly; everything else arrives as a structured summary: who called, what they wanted, which number to call back.
Live in hours
How it goes live — keeping your number
Keep your existing number
No porting, no new number. The number on Google, your website, and your cards stays the same.
Switch on call forwarding
Standard forwarding on your current line: always, when busy, or when unanswered. You decide when the AI receptionist picks up. Reversible in seconds.
fonea answers, books, transfers
The assistant greets callers with your business name, answers your FAQs, books appointments, and passes urgent calls to you.
You get a summary of every call
Who called, what they wanted, what was booked or agreed — by email or text. Nothing goes without follow-up.
Typical call scenarios
What fonea sounds like on real calls
New customer wants an appointment
Booked in one call, straight into your calendar. No “we’ll call you back”.
English-speaking international caller
fonea switches language without the caller pressing anything. The call once lost to the language barrier is now a booking.
Urgent call that needs a human
Emergencies reach your mobile instantly; routine matters are logged and ordered.
Data protection in Spain
What fonea does with your callers’ data
GDPR (the RGPD in Spain) and the LOPDGDD
Your business is the controller and fonea the processor. You get an Article 28 data processing agreement setting out what is processed, why, for how long and with what safeguards, plus encryption in transit and at rest and named sub-processors.
The questions the AEPD expects you to answer
Where the data is processed: AI processing runs on European infrastructure and persistent data is stored in Switzerland, a jurisdiction with an EU adequacy decision. How long it is kept: a retention window you set, with deletion on request so you can honour an erasure right.
Recording is a switch you control
Recording is set per line. Off, the call exists only as an encrypted transcript deleted on your schedule. On, you are keeping caller audio, which means telling callers, having a lawful basis and not holding it longer than you can justify. Either way fonea builds no voiceprints, so no biometric identifier is created.
Every caller is told it is an assistant
The EU AI Act requires people to be told when they are interacting with an AI system. fonea says so at the start of every call and the disclosure cannot be switched off.

Frequently asked
AI receptionist — what you should know
How much does an AI receptionist cost?
fonea starts at €90 per month with 120 minutes of call time included. No setup fee, no per-call charges, no minimum term — cancel monthly.
Is it GDPR compliant?
You are the controller, so the useful answer is what fonea gives you to work with. Calls are processed under the GDPR (the RGPD in Spain) and the LOPDGDD with an Article 28 data processing agreement, encryption in transit and at rest, named sub-processors and retention windows you set with deletion on request. AI processing runs on European infrastructure and persistent data is stored in Switzerland, a jurisdiction with an EU adequacy decision. Callers are told at the start of every call that they are speaking with a digital assistant, as the EU AI Act requires, and no voice profiles or biometric data are created. Those are the points the AEPD expects you to be able to evidence about any supplier handling your customers’ data.
Does this replace my virtual switchboard?
It depends what you use it for. A virtual switchboard routes calls between extensions, sites and opening hours, and fonea can sit behind it: forward the extension you choose and the AI receptionist answers those calls. The difference is the verb. A switchboard routes; fonea holds the conversation, answers your frequently asked questions, books the appointment and passes urgent callers through. If your switchboard only ever routed callers into a voicemail box, fonea replaces it.
Do I keep my phone number?
Yes. fonea works through standard call forwarding on your existing landline or mobile, with any provider. Your published number never changes and you can switch the forwarding off at any time.
Which languages does it speak?
Spanish, English, French, German, and Italian. fonea detects the caller’s language and answers naturally — no menus, no button-pressing. For businesses with international customers, that is the difference between a lost call and a closed booking.
What if the AI can’t answer something?
fonea never invents an answer. It either transfers the call to your team — instantly for urgent topics — or takes a structured message with name, number, and concern, and sends it to you by email or text so you can call back with full context.
How long does setup take?
Hours, not weeks. Describe your business, hours, and FAQs; connect your calendar for direct booking; switch on call forwarding; make a test call. Most businesses are live the same day.
